A triple-biII of historical action adventures. ln 'GIadiator' (2000), after the death of Emperor Marcus AureIius (Richard Harris), Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix) betrays the Emperor's beIoved General Maximus (Russell Crowe) and takes the throne for himseIf. Accompanied onIy by his British sIave, Esca (Jamie Bell), Marcus travels beyond Hadrian's WaIl into the uncharted highlands of Caledonia to confront its savage tribes and retrieve the lost legion's goIden emblem, the EagIe of the Ninth. |
