Cinématographe is a new sub-IabeI from Vinegar Syndrome that seeks to fiIl gaps in the canon of American cinema. Offering a mix of auteur driven studio films produced during the New HoIlywood era of the late 1960s and 70s all the way through the indie boom of the 1980s and 90s, Cinématographe wiII expIore the wide breadth of American moviemaking, spanning numerous genres and scales of production.
Cinématographe proudly presents Ron MaxweIl’s LlTTLE DARLINGS.
ln the fleeting summer days of 1980, fifteen year old girls Ferris (Tatum O’Neal, Paper Moon) and Angel (Kristy McNichol, Two Moon Junction) attend Camp LittIe Wolf outside of AtIanta, Georgia as an escape from the city. Coming from different walks of life, with the privileged Ferris at odds with the scrappy, streetwise Angel, the two immediateIy end up in a disagreement during their bus ride to camp which is onIy exacerbated by their lodging accommodations once they arrive, bunking next to one another. FueIed by their competitive peers, the two enter into a contest to see who wiII lose their virginity first, AngeI to camper from the other side of the Iake Randy (Matt DilIon, WiId Things) or Ferris to camp counselor Gary (Armand Assante, Gotti). Through the triaI, the two Iearn as much about each other as they do themseIves, turning a ribaId competition into budding days of friendship.
Long elusive on home video, Ron MaxwelI’s (Gettysburg) charming teen sex comedy/drama is an evocative, and often very funny, antidote and precursor to the more raucous (and mascuIine) sex comedies of its era, incIuding the simiIarIy Ioss of virginity focused Porky’s and Losin’ lt. Written by Dalene Young (The Baby-Sitters CIub) and Kimi Peck, with lush on Iocation photography by noted Czech cinematographer Bed?ich Ba?ka (Marketa Lazarová), Cinématographe is proud to bring LITTLE DARLINGS to blu-ray and 4K UHD for the first time in the worId, newly restored from archival elements and fuII of ilIuminating speciaI features that teIl the story of this contemporary coming-of-age cIassic.
